When Heaven Burns to finally broadcast

TVB new series When Heaven Burns will take over the 9.30pm time slot from Forensic Heroes 3 on November 21. When Heaven Burns completed filming more than 2 years ago but was not broadcast by TVB. It wasn't until now that the two leads, Bowie Lam and Charmaine Sheh have parted ways with TVB that this series slotted for release.

Cast When Heaven Burns TVB

The cast of [WHB], Bowie Lam, Moses Chan and Kenny Wong took part in the promotional event for the series in Kowloon Bay. Lead actress, Charmaine Sheh was noticeably missing as she is filming in China.

Bowie Lam Kenny Wong Moses Chan When Heaven Burns TVB

At the event, the leads formed a band and entertained the audience. They were seen singing, playing the drums as well as electric guitars; just like their characters do in the series.

Bowie explained that he has mentioned many times that he will take part in the promotional activities for the series. "It is not because I don't have a contract with TVB that I won't promote the series. I am an adult, we aren't like that," adds Bowie.

When asked for his oppinion if the series should have been aired earlier, Bowie says that there are many people who anticipated this series, so perhaps it should have been aired earlier. However, Bowie admits that this is TVB's arrangements.

Bowie does not believe that his and Charmaine's departure from TVB has anything to do with the airing of [WHB]. "We never thought about this, why would this be! This is a TV rated series, perhaps the subject matter is a different type," Bowie explains.

Bowie feels that for the cast to be nominated for next year's TVB Anniversary, TVB could broadcast some clips about a month before the anniversary to give audience a refresher of the series.

Kenny Wong shares that he was happy when he heard that [WHB] was to be aired last year, but when it was delayed, he was a little unhappy.

On the other hand, Moses Chan was more philosophical about the broadcast timing of the series. While many are concerned about whether the series can get the awards, but Moses' concern is wheter the series can bring out the "modern romance atmosphere". He explains, "The series is airing now is not because of Bowie and Charmaine. Why would TVB air the series when the two are not here! It is just a matter of timing. Even if the series airs now, I'll still be happy. Although people are unhappy about the broadcast period, we are still filled with confidence."

However, he adds that it is important to "just do his own part well, and do the best when acting." Moses shares that he doesn't know Charles personally but he has heard of him before. Wayne Lai shoots down the idea of Rosy Business 3

TVB's Rosy Business and its indirect sequel No Regrets received good ratings and praises from the audience. Although, at the recent TVB Anniversary Awards [NR] lost the Best Series Award to Can't Buy Me Love, there are still talks about filming a third sequel to this award winning franchise.

However, Best Actor winner, Wayne Lai does not feel that filming a third installment is a good idea. Wayne reasons, "I think we should quit while we're ahead. I don't agree on filming a third installment."

Producer, Lee Tim Sing was reported as saying should a third sequel for [RB] is filmed, the series would have to be set in modern times. After all [RB] was set in ancient times (Qing Dynasty) while [NR] was set in the pre-modern (early republic) era. However, Producer Lee admits that filming a "modern era" [RB] would be extremely challenging and difficult.
Wayne Lai Sheren Tang
A celebration dinner was held for the cast and crew of [NR] courtesy of TVB's Co-Chairman, Norman Leung. At the dinner, Norman addresses some issues highlighted by netizens including the "unfairness" from the Anniversary Awards. Norman explained that it is reasonable for [CBML] to win the best series award as it is the highest rated series of the year. He also explained that every award given out was based on appropriate scoring. As for Raymond Lam's surprise win for "Favourite Male Character" award, Norman reveals that it is not easy to choose between Raymond and Moses Chan. Similarly it was tough choosing between Wayne and Moses for the best actor award.

Wayne throws his support behind Raymond for winning "Favourite Male Character". Wayne explains that the audience loves Raymond and there's no benchmark for liking a particular character. He also praises Moses for having a good performance as well.

TVB's management executives, Stephen Chan, Virginia Lok and Catherine Tsang all attended the celebratory dinner. Virgina Lok explained that she dare not discuss contracts with Wayne and Sheren Tang before the awards to avoid reports of the two artistes exchanging contracts for awards. However, after the awards, she can talk contracts with the two two-time award winners. She hopes to use the the most sincere method to persuade them with lots of money as well as long-term contracts.

Virginia also notes that Sheren's manager is her long-time friend, Helen, so she would not try to take Sheren away from Helen unless Helen retires. As for Wayne, his manager is his wife - which according to Virginia, they already have a lifetime contract together.

Sheren admits that she is a little touched when she heard that Virginia is sincere in persuing her with money. Sheren adds that should her manager helen retires, she would definitely consider TVB first if she was to sign another long-term contract. Reporters asked Sheren if she will buy a house to reward herself for her win at TVB Anniversary Awards, but Sheren says, "financing a house is a punishment, not a reward!"

Sheren Tang hopes for higher ratings

Sheren Tang Eileen Cha
The second week of TVB anniversary series No Regrets score an average of 31 points, and peaked at 34 points; which is exact same ratings as it's premiere week.

Sheren Tang, who accepted Eileen Cha's interview, was asked for her opinion regarding [NR]'s ratings. [NR] is considered by many to be the competitor to the recently concluded Can't Buy Me Love at this year's TVB Anniversary Awards. Sheren responded, "There is disappointment more or less, but I feel that if series has high ratings does not represent that it's very high quality. It is all accommodated by favorable factors. War and Beauty did not have very high ratings, but was still a city-wide topic."

Sheren was then asked for her opinion about TV King, which sees a tough fight between Sheren's [NR] co-star, Wayne Lai or the lead in [CBML], Moses Chan. Sheren explained that Moses is an actor whom she likes and hope to collaborate with in the future. However, Sheren adds that she did not watch [CBML] and as such it is difficult for her to comment.

Sheren shares that she is still deliberating what series to accept for next year. She would love to film a comedy series but hopes to get a role who is an argumentative woman. She feels that she is still not as good as teresa Mo or Ha Ping in comedies.

Sheren's role as Kau Koo Leung in [NR] has definitely boost her popularity. Recently a magazine re-used Shere's old photo as their cover story. Sheren laughed and says that is very "environmental-friendly". After all they are recycling.

Felix Wong hailed as the "dark horse" in the TV King battle

The competition for 2010 TVB Anniversary Awards is heating up. The top favourites this year are the duo from Can't Buy Me Love, Moses Chan and Charmaine Sheh battling the duo (and also last year's winning pair) of Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang from No Regrets.

However, Felix Wong is now thrown into the race after being hailed as the dark horse by his co-star from Gun Metal Grey, Michael Miu. Even Moses Chan has praises for Felix and admits that the competition is fierce.

On Monday (October 18), TVB will hold its 43 Annual Lighting Ceremony. At this event the list of nominees for the upcoming Anniversary Awards will also be announced. Many fans and viewers anticipate that the leads from No Regrets, Wayne and Sheren will lead the nomination list and build the momentum leading up to the awards. TVB is heavily promoting No Regrets making the series and its cast a strong contender for the awards.

Nonetheless, Can't Buy Me Love also has its strengths. Although the series has ended its run, it is the highest rated series in 2010 to date. It also stars the winner of 2007's TV King, Moses Chan and 2006's TV Queen, Charmaine Sheh. The strong battle between Can't Buy Me Love and No Regrets reminded viewers and fans of last year's battle between Beyond the Realm of Conscience and Rosy Business.

Producer Lee Tim Sing, who is the producer for No Regrets, openly pledges his support for Wayne and Sheren, pointing out that this award winning duo have a strong chance of taking the awards in two consequtive years! "I saw Charmaine’s performance in Can't Buy Me Love, she has definitely improved a lot, however in terms of acting, it’s hard to compete with Sheren. I think there is a huge chance that this year’s TV King and Queen will be a ‘repeat’ of last year," says Producer Lee.

Moses Chan constantly challenges himself

Moses Chan will most likely be in the running for TV King Award again this year at TVB's Anniversary Awards. This time around he will be banking on his character, Kam To Luk in Can't Buy Me Love. Although [CBML] did well and achieved high ratings, Moses still feels that he is not Wayne Lai's opponent and is prepared to surrender. Wayne Lai's new series, No Regrets will premiere on October 18. [No Regrets] is the indirect sequel to last year's Best Series - Rosy Business.

Moses admits his anticipation for [No Regrets] and says that viewers should watch it too. Moses admits that he wants to win as many awards as he can but when he is up against Wayne, he just need to prep himself to lose.

Moses is constantly challenging himself to take on newer roles. He will be filming a new series alongside veteran Adam Cheng and Moses will take on the role of a serial killer. Moses is looking forward to working with Adam and hopes that this new partnership will have sparks.

The entertainment industry is constantly changing and evolving. Newcomers join the industry daily and one has to change if not left behind. That being said, Moses is not worried but claims that it's a good thing. "I am fortunate to have them around, otherwise there will be faults. The people in the past moved slowly, if there wasn't the new generation then nothing can succeed. A TV station is not supported by just one or two people," explains Moses.

Moses expresses that the industry will blossom with the new generation of actors. As the saying goes, new wave push the old wave!

Moses shares that he still get movie offers but he turns them down as he has left the movie scene a long time ago. He admits that unless the the movie gives him a really good feeling, he will not be taking part. Moses reveals that he is getting more jobs and he is really flourishing in the year of the Tiger.
