Here's the Opening Theme for Rosy Business. I really like it. The theme song is sung by Ron Ng who plays the role of Tseung Pit Ching, the second son of Rice Baron, Tseung Kiu. He will eventually take over the family business.
I'm sharing this video as a tribute to the show. What a superb drama! Kudos to the producer, production crew and stellar cast! The script is good, the acting brilliant, and there was never a dull moment in the series.
Sheren Tang, Kiki Sheung, Kara Hui and Wayne Lai were among the cast of Rosy Business who were at the recording of Club Sparkle recently. They were asked about rumours that the four artistes who play the four wives of Tseung Kiu (Elliot Yue) apparently do not get along.
Wayne, being the neutral party, was asked about this. The rumour apparently alleged that Sheren Tang is the one who does not get along with the others. Wayne replies, "Not getting along?! Of course not, this is just a rumor!"
Rosy Business is a big hit among TV viewers and there are many speculations about the ending of the drama series. Wayne says the Producer felt that the current ending is the most perfect one. Thus, he feels that there will not be a sequel to Rosy Business.
Sheren feels happy that the drama series is doing well. She says the script is a really good one and it couldn't have been better. "I chase the series myself, friends invite me out for dinner, I don't go. I rather stay home and watch TV. Currently the economy is not good, therefore families should stay home and watch TV together. Spend more time together with family members and maintain the good relationship," Sheren explains.
The ratings for Rosy Business is improving by the week. On Monday the drama series hit 37 points. To celebrate the success of the drama series, the cast members treated the whole production team to a dinner.
Wayne Lai was once quoted as saying that he would treat the cast and crew to a dinner meal on his own. However, for this celebration dinner, most of the cast pitch in a portion. Wayne clarifies, "The cast treated the crew for tonight’s dinner. Since everyone pitches in the same amount, there is no need for one person to fight to pay the entire bill. Everyone is happy. It is not important whether we treat or not. The most important thing is that we watch the final episode at the shopping mall together with the audience. The atmosphere will be very exciting!"
A tabloid magazine recently spotted some flaws in Rosy Business. According to the magazine, there were some shots in the drama which has modern high rise buildings in the background. Wayne explains, "The stills showcase a different viewpoint. These buildings should not appear onscreen in the background. If they truly do, I hope everyone is understanding of the mistake."
Sheren Tang, who plays the role of Po Kei (Tseung Kiu's 4th wife), was the one who suggested to TVB executive, Stephen Chan to organise a dinner at a shopping mall. Sheren was proud of the success of Rosy Business and thanked the audience for their active discussions about the drama. Sheren says it would be even better if the dinner proceeds could go to charity!
Sheren also expressed her confidence in the ratings of Rosy Business. Sheren thinks that the ratings may breech the 40 points mark and attributes the success to the strong cast in the series. "In the future, actresses should not be afraid of filming before a high-definition camera. If own possesses strong acting skills, that would suffice," she says.
Nancy Wu was happy that she was picked to act in Rosy Business. Nancy says originally the role was given to Claire Yiu but Claire got pregnant. So the role was given to her instead.
Sheren Tang was a guest in Stephen Chan's Be My Guest program. Reporters asked Stephen if he would give Sheren the Best Actress award at this year's TVB Anniversary Awards as she has lost out on that award back in 2004. Stephen says that it's still too early to discuss the awards. "There is a new concept for the TVB Anniversary Awards. We are planning to see whether we could postpone the Ceremony until the end of December instead," Stephen adds. Reporters were quick to point out that the postponement is unfair to Sai Nai Nai (Sheren's character in Rosy Business) as it would be such a long wait. However, Stephen assures everyone present that they will promote the series again when the time comes.
Sheren adds that we are still in the first half of the year and there are still many unaired dramas. Sheren explains, "I am already very satisfied to have been able to film Rosy Business. Since 2004, it's no longer a matter to me. Awards will not give me any pressure. Stephen says if he was to give Sheren the Best Actress title, she would not be happy. "It would also mean the awards are fixed and Sheren is the type of person that like fairness. She hates things that are set," Stephen explains.
Stephen also reveals that Born Rich and Beyond the Realm of Conscience will most likely be TVB Anniversary series for 2009.
Wayne Lai's portrayal of Chai Kau in Rosy Business has earned him a huge following among fans. Recently, Wayne attended a charity sale event and was very popular among the shoppers. They wanted to take photos with him and also asked for his autograph.
Wayne reveals that he specifically drop by the charity sale before he start work. Reporters asked Wayne if the high ratings of Rosy Business has created more work opportunities for him. Wayne explains that the ratings managed to boost his popularity among fans and viewers. He is also currently in a discussion for a Disney movie project. Wayne might be providing his voice for one of the characters.
How many 10 years does one have in a lifetime? This line is made famous by Chai Kau, Wayne Lai's character in Rosy Business. Wayne also lives by this statement. In his 24 years as an actor, Wayne has filmed over 100 drama series. His talents are noticed by producers and directors. Over the years, Wayne is given more and more challenging roles. These roles makes Wayne's life interesting; he is overwhelmed by the challenges and is excited at portraying them, but at the same time he feels miserable. There are even times when Wayne convinces himself not to take on such roles. However, after much consideration, Wayne continues on his acting career journey, similar to one trilling roller-coaster ride.
Wayne credit Producer Cheung Wa Biu as the person who triggers the confused feeling in him. "Producer Cheung gave me numerous challenging roles, and each time it gets tougher, for instance, The Gentle Crackdown II where I took on dual role with two different characters and followed by Rosy Business, a low-class and not a likable "Chai Kau", as if this role is specially crafted out for me by Cheung."
Wayne explains that the more challenging the role is, the more stressed he is about it. He feels pressured as people place high expectations on him. "I almost wanted to retire when I filmed The Gentle Crackdown II, and I told myself the role of "Chai Kau" will be my last series. At most I will eat less!! My son is growing up, and I am an ordinary person. This is the struggles of an actor. When acting gets tough, I would think, what’s the point of going on? But when there is nothing left to do, I would feel life is meaningless after all," Wayne says.
Recently, netizens have been busy discussing about "Chai Kau" in numerous online forums. Many says the character of "Chai Kau" is different from the traditional, typical lead male character. Chai Kau is neither righteous nor heroic. He is in fact a mysterious, petty, selfish person with streaks of inferiority complex. He draws a clear, visible line between love and hate and only has love for one person all his life - Po Kei (Shereen Tang's character).
The role of Po Kei, the fourth wife of rice tycoon, Tseung Kiu, is an equally challenging role. Shereen has also portrayed Po Kei accurately. Wayne brings life to the character of Chai Kau. To Wayne, Chai Kau is someone who lets character determines fate. The audience loves what Wayne adds to Chai Kau and appreciates teh complexities of Chai Kau.
Over the years, there are concerns that the current crop of TVB Siu Sangs are unable to replace the seniors in the industry, but Wayne attributes this to the changes in the whole TV industry in general.
Wayne explains that in the past, directors and actors are required to undergo one year of intensive training where they are given proper guidance from the perspective of an actor. But the younger generation artistes do not have intensive training anymore. They lack skills and yet there are no solutions to the problem. Wayne reveals in the current batch of TVB Siu Sangs, Raymond Lam, Ron Ng and Bosco Wong are the three with the most potential.
After working hard for 24 years, Wayne is starting to reap his rewards. He feels fortunate, "I am very thankful, for someone like me who does not like socializing much and still able to reap such good results, I will treasure every moment." Wayne also feels blessed to have a loving family, a supportive wife and son. He confessed that there were occasions when he argued with his wife. But when realisation sets in, he understands that a man and woman comes together for a reason - to complement each other. Wayne adds, "acting and maintaining a marriage are part of his life’s changing and learning process."
Wayne Lai attended TVB's Discovering TVB Drama King program and was told that his latest drama series, Rosy Business, is heavily discussed by viewers and netizens. Wayne was happy with the current ratings of Rosy Business, saying, "Last week the ratings reached 30 points, hopefully during the finale week, it could reach 34 points and the grand finale 40 points!"
Rosy Business is also hailed as Wayne's most recent representatvie piece of work, but Wayne doesn't think so. Wayne says, "It's not recently, it's my representative work since I've entered the entertainment industry 20 over years ago. Filming series needs a lot of factors to consider."
Wayne seems confident and satisfied with his performance in Rosy Business. Reporters asked him if he has confidence to win another award at this year's TVB Anniversary Awards. Wayne was humble and says he never thinks about winning awards. "I never thought about winning an award again. Afterall the awards also have other factors to consider, also there are many other artistes who have done well too!" Wayne explains.
Since Wayne Lai's success in bringing home the Best Supporting Actor Award at the 2008 TVB Anniversary Awards, his fan base has grown tremendously. Recently, at a function for his new TVB drama, Rosy Business, many young, female fans were present to support Wayne. Wayne was surprised that so many of his fans turned up but also explained that his fan base is now made up of people from various demographics.
Wayne can be seen in Rosy Business opposite another acting powerhouse, Sheren Tang. Both Wayne and Sheren are looking forward to the broadcast of the drama.
Rosy Business took over the time slot of King of Snookers which ended its run last week. Wayne was asked if he was worried that the poor ratings of King of Snookers will impact Rosy Business, in which he replied, "No, Sheren has a strong audience following. Also, the audience nowadays know how to choose what to watch. If then did not watch one series, this does not mean they are not interesting in the next one. They will judge each series independently."
Sheren is also not overly concerned about the ratings. Sheren laughed off Wayne's comments that she has a large audience following but instead says that Producer Lee Tim Sing is the one with the large following. Reporters asked Sheren if she has any hopes that her character "Po Kei" in Rosy Business will outshine her previous role in War and Beauty, but Sheren said she has not considered that.

Synopsis:
Hong Po Kei was once engaged to wealthy Wuxi rice baron, Tseung Kiu. Their engagement was broken off due to a natural disaster. Po Kei's family was killed when the country ran out of food supplies, while Po Kei was deemed a criminal.
Although much has happened, Po Kei has never gotten over Tseung Kiu. She believes that he is not as heartless as how others see him and tries hard to prove that. The fate between the two is strong and they finally meet again. By chance, Po Kei ends up marrying Tseung Kiu and became his fourth wife. Tseung Kiu's first and second wives, Yan Fung Yee and Pang Kiu contantly makes life difficult for Po Kei. However, Po Kei is a smart woman who is not bothered by their little antics, instead she turns every mis-adventure to her advantage. Tsueng Kiu is impressed by Po Kei's determination and wisdom. He entrusts his whole business in her hands and tells her to find him a suitable successor before he dies.
Po Kei works hard to manage the family business although she is contantly threathened by the in-fighting within the family. She also keeps Tseung Kiu's wish for a successor close to her heart. Po Kei learns that Tseung Pit Ching, Tseung Kiu's second son, is a capable person loved by all although Pit Ching would rather everyone believe that he's a playboy. Po Kei invests her time mentoring Pit Ching to take oveer the family business. However, her efforts were met with objections by Chai Kau. Chai Kau claims that he was mistreated by the Tseung family and wants revenge. Chai Kau begins to challenge Po Kei while Po Kei works hard to fend off Chai Kau's challenges. After numerous rounds of battles, Po Kei and Chai Kau develop admiration and respect for one another. As time passes, Chai Kau starts to fall for Po Kei.
How will the strong and risilent Po Kei handle the affection of Chai Kau? Will the Tseung family business prosper under the leadership of Pit Ching? Or will the in-fighting and constant bickering bring down the family business?
