Raymond Lam and Kenneth Ma film Return to the Three Kingdoms

Raymond Lam and Kenneth Ma were busy filming for TVB new series Return to the Three Kingdoms. The scene was about the army troops training at camp.

Raymond Lam Kenneth Ma Return to the Three Kingdoms

Raymond shared that his character, Chukot Leung is similar to his previous role in The Mysteries of Love, Kingsley. Both the characters talk a lot and Raymond had a tough time handling the scripts. "It's actually quite interesting because Kenneth Ma's lines are very modernized, while mines are so ancient, so the result is quite funny," revealed Raymond. If he had to choose, Raymond said that the script for [TMOL] is more difficult to memorise as there are professional physics terms and jargons to remember.

Raymond also divulged that he is indeed a fan of Three Kingdoms. He used to play the games franchise, and he also studied it in school.

The past month or so was definitely a challenge for Raymond as he was plagued by the "Mavis Pan relationship-photo leakage drama" but this professional artiste continue to work hard and stay focused. "I am just doing my part, I hope that everything will go well," clarified Raymond. After completing the filming for this series, Raymond will focus on his next cantonese album and concert. He revealed that he will not be taking a break as he already had one during the Lunar New Year period but hopes to get some time off later on for a family vacation. " It doesn't matter where we go, I just want to have more time with my family. I hope next year my wish will come true. I already mentioned it to my company," Raymond said.

Kenneth Ma's character is someone who travelled back in time from the modern world. Kenneth and Raymond have collaborated numerous times before and Kenneth has only good things to say about Raymond. Kenneth praised that Raymond is generous for treating them to snacks and drinks. Kenneth also added that Raymond is very professional on set and will not bring his personal problems to work. " didn't notice anything when he goes and leaves work. It's just the public is making the issue big, he is the victim," said Kenneth.

Wayne Lai shoots down the idea of Rosy Business 3

TVB's Rosy Business and its indirect sequel No Regrets received good ratings and praises from the audience. Although, at the recent TVB Anniversary Awards [NR] lost the Best Series Award to Can't Buy Me Love, there are still talks about filming a third sequel to this award winning franchise.

However, Best Actor winner, Wayne Lai does not feel that filming a third installment is a good idea. Wayne reasons, "I think we should quit while we're ahead. I don't agree on filming a third installment."

Producer, Lee Tim Sing was reported as saying should a third sequel for [RB] is filmed, the series would have to be set in modern times. After all [RB] was set in ancient times (Qing Dynasty) while [NR] was set in the pre-modern (early republic) era. However, Producer Lee admits that filming a "modern era" [RB] would be extremely challenging and difficult.
Wayne Lai Sheren Tang
A celebration dinner was held for the cast and crew of [NR] courtesy of TVB's Co-Chairman, Norman Leung. At the dinner, Norman addresses some issues highlighted by netizens including the "unfairness" from the Anniversary Awards. Norman explained that it is reasonable for [CBML] to win the best series award as it is the highest rated series of the year. He also explained that every award given out was based on appropriate scoring. As for Raymond Lam's surprise win for "Favourite Male Character" award, Norman reveals that it is not easy to choose between Raymond and Moses Chan. Similarly it was tough choosing between Wayne and Moses for the best actor award.

Wayne throws his support behind Raymond for winning "Favourite Male Character". Wayne explains that the audience loves Raymond and there's no benchmark for liking a particular character. He also praises Moses for having a good performance as well.

TVB's management executives, Stephen Chan, Virginia Lok and Catherine Tsang all attended the celebratory dinner. Virgina Lok explained that she dare not discuss contracts with Wayne and Sheren Tang before the awards to avoid reports of the two artistes exchanging contracts for awards. However, after the awards, she can talk contracts with the two two-time award winners. She hopes to use the the most sincere method to persuade them with lots of money as well as long-term contracts.

Virginia also notes that Sheren's manager is her long-time friend, Helen, so she would not try to take Sheren away from Helen unless Helen retires. As for Wayne, his manager is his wife - which according to Virginia, they already have a lifetime contract together.

Sheren admits that she is a little touched when she heard that Virginia is sincere in persuing her with money. Sheren adds that should her manager helen retires, she would definitely consider TVB first if she was to sign another long-term contract. Reporters asked Sheren if she will buy a house to reward herself for her win at TVB Anniversary Awards, but Sheren says, "financing a house is a punishment, not a reward!"

Raymond and Tavia were previously paired in Golden Faith and worked together in Eternal Faith, Yummy Yummy, Heart of Greed, Moonlight Resonance, among others.

TVB stars weather the Global Economic Crisis together

The global financial crisis impacts everyone globally. There's no avoiding or escaping or running away from it. TVB had already laid off over 200 staffs and freeze the salary of those still employed. Hoping to remain united to weather the financial crisis, TVB launched a campaign, Spreading Hong Kong's Power [發動香港力量] to encourage and motivate the people of Hong Kong.

The campaign was attended by many TVB artistes including Liza Wang who was not feeling weel, and TVB General Manager, Stephen Chan. Most artistes present agree to take a pay cut for shows and appearances during these tough times.

Raymond Lam, who starred in Moonlight Resonance, does not mind having his pay cut by up to 30% and pledges to support TVB to the very end. Raymond said, "The most important is to let everyone know that TVB Artistes are worth to have, worth the money, to help the markets overcome this period, raising pay we all can talk about it. Actually the finanical crisis did not affect me too much because I don't understand investments, although I had always wanted to buy a luxury home, but I heard that the housing prices had been affected, I'm feeling quite contradicting."

Raymond Lam and Linda Chung

Raymond's fellow cast member in Moonlight Resonance, Linda Chung, reveals that she earned more in 2008 but admits that she will be affected this year. Linda is not sure if her pay will be reduced but states that she is fine working for half her pay. "But this decision is made by my company," adds Linda. Linda also said that she's happy if there is work as she does not work for the money. "As an artist, I don't want to have no chance for exposure," Linda explained.

Moses Chan and others

Star of current mega production, The Gem of Life, Moses Chan assures that if his pay was reduced he would still have enough. "Actually artists do hope for a job and an opportunity for collaboration, so that's why we all will ride out the storm together with the company," explains Moses.

Bosco Wong

Another cast of The Gem of Life, Bosco Wong shares that he still has job offers and his pay is still not reduced. Bosco who is yet to feel the impact says, "Increase or decrease in my pay has always been decided by my manager, I will need my manager to see if its necessary to reduce the pay or not, I will just listen to whatever is arranged."

Veteran artiste, Nancy Sit is worried about the current economy crisis especially after hearing the Chief Executive's address regarding the crisis. Nancy said, "The Chief Executive shouldn't say it like that, it might scare people. In the future I will work hard on my jobs, peacefully accepting jobs. Although the financial crisis did not affect me too much, but in the Chinese New Year I will be passing out lucky pockets, I already prepared $118,000 of lucky packets to pass out. Give some good luck, hope that everyone could spend the New Year happily."

Nancy Sit Susanna Kwan

Susanna Kwan, who appeared alongside Moses, Linda and Raymond in Moonlight Resonance, is relieved that she doesn't invest much. Susanna explains, "Luckily I didn't do any investments, my property is also owned by me, so there is no problem. Workload also had not been reduced. Up until now, my income is actually more than last year." Susanna also shares that health is more important and she may be taking a break to rest in the new year.

Raymond Lam best Actor Asian television Awards 2008

Raymond said that this award isn't a consolation for him after losing out on the Best Actor award to Ha Yu at this year's TVB Anniversary Awards. Raymond explained that The Master of Tai Chi was aired very much earlier in the year, thus it wasn't fresh in the minds of Hong Kong viewers, unlike his other series, Moonlight Resonance and The Four. Raymond expressed his gratitude to TVB for submitting The Master of Tai Chi as an entry as the series features Chinese culture and historical background. It is also worth noting that Raymond is the first Hong Kong artiste to ever win an Asian television Award.

Raymond felt that the local viewers find it harder to absorb the deep storyline of The Master of Tai Chi thus resulting in poor ratings but is glad that the series does well in the overseas market.
